Katsu
Katsu, who describes himself as an artist, vandal, and hacker, first gained recognition in the 1990s within New York City’s graffiti scene.
He is notorious for introducing the use of fire extinguisher spray cans, which enable massive-scale graffiti, and for producing fictional “documentary” videos of himself tagging iconic locations like the White House.
“Much of my work stems from exploring and testing different technologies for artistic expression,” he explains.
In his latest innovation, Katsu developed “graffiti drones”—quadcopters equipped with spray cans—allowing him to create abstract art on surfaces previously out of reach.
He aims to make the technology open-source, encouraging other artists to build and use the drones themselves.
