This piece was acquired from the Estate of Richard Draycott

Richard Gerald Seeley Draycott was a committed bon vivant with a passion for literature, music and in particular, art. His collection, as with all things Draycottian, was audacious with a strong preference for the abstract, as long as it was offered large and vivid.

He was a significant patron of local artists, particularly in his home county of Norfolk, from which much of his collection originated.

He opened a gallery at Buxton Mill to showcase such works. His collection is an embodiment of the man himself and reflects his love of bold, dramatic work, typified by Bruer Tidman, whom he collected extensively.
Tidman studied at the Royal College of Art in the early 1960s.

He has exhibited widely in the UK and Europe, and his striking paintings are well represented in Draycott’s collection.
