Jakob Polacsek
Jakob Polacsek, an Austrian/Irish photographer born in Salzburg in 1976, is a multifaceted artist whose exploration of visual storytelling has been rich and transformative. After graduating with a Master’s Degree in Communications from the University of Vienna, Jakob’s academic pursuits were complemented by his studies in Electronic Media and Computer Music at The University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, under the guidance of Tamás Ungváry.
Transitioning from the world of journalism, where he honed his skills in print and audiovisual media, Jakob found his true calling in photography in 2004. His inaugural foray into the medium came through his role as a set photographer for the critically acclaimed road movie ‘Zen and Zero’. In the years that followed, Jakob’s travels have taken him across continents, where he skillfully captured portraits and insightful reportage, establishing himself as a well-rounded photographer.
Guided by wanderlust and a profound connection to the sea, Jakob’s explorations often lead him to coastal regions around the world, being an avid surfer, he draws inner peace and inspiration from the ever-changing scenery sculpted by the ocean’s raw power.
