Jesse Zuefle
Jesse Zuefle is a writer and street artist from Buffalo, New York, USA.
Working under the pseudonym “Banksy Hates Me,” he creates stencil-based street art of his own.
In 2025, Zuefle released NOLA RAIN: The New Orleans Banksy Story, a book documenting Banksy’s 2008 visit to New Orleans and the artworks produced in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
For more than a decade, Jesse served as the “self-appointed caretaker” of one of the most recognisable pieces from that visit — Umbrella Girl. His role involved ongoing upkeep, from replacing protective coverings to removing vandalism, and ensuring the artwork’s preservation.
The book weaves together photographs, archival material, interviews, and anecdotal accounts. Zuefle openly acknowledges the challenges of accuracy, noting that the secretive nature of street art and the lack of documentation make verifying most details “nearly impossible.”
Despite this, NOLA RAIN is widely regarded as the most comprehensive account to date of Banksy’s legacy in New Orleans.
